Laporte School Forests

Since 1959, Laporte Public School has managed two school forests (40 acres each) in Laporte, Minnesota. Both forests are located within 4 miles of the school. These forests are for student, staff, and community use. Science students take field trips to the forests, but other classes are invited to use the space. In the Spring of 2019, the Minnesota DNR foresters made a new trail through the forests, as part of a grant through the Minnesota School Forest Program. These new trails make it easier to navigate the forests. The Minnesota DNR keeps all school forest records updated on their website https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/schoolforest/listing.html.
